Kapatagan is mainly an agricultural municipality with coconut as dominant crop in terms of value of production, followed by rice and fisheries.

In 2013, a total 757 business establishments were listed by the Municipal Treasurer’s Office; 115 were new and 642 were old ones that were renewed during the said year. These combined number had a value of Php 400,640,234.00. The number of business establishments is equivalent to 143% increase from 2009 which only recorded a total of 311 establishments with the value of Php 204,484,209.50

This is a big leap from 2008 wherein business establishments were only valued at Php 160.3-million.

Kapatagan has vast lands at the Poblacion and nearby lowland barangays to cater to new business establishments that may invest in the municipality.
