Last February 20, the ICT Office, in partnership with the local government, conducted its first leg of impact sourcing workshops in the municipality of Kapatagan for the year 2015.
With at least 300 participants composed of students and young professionals, the workshop aimed to educate the residents of Kapatagan about the economic opportunities that can be obtained through home based online jobs.
The workshop featured talks from two online job and training platforms: Freelancer.ph and Online Jobs University. Local leaders of the Northern Mindanao ICT scene also discussed topics relevant to rural impact sourcing and ICT for development.
The workshop concluded with the awarding of training programs from Online Jobs University to two lucky participants.
Located in the province of Lanao del Norte, Kapatagan is a first-class municipality with farming and fishing as main sources of livelihood. In spite of its rural setting, Kapatagan boasts of a progressing economy with digitally-inclined citizens.
